Don’t Forget Yourself This Valentine’s Day

Not only can it be challenging to deal with unhelpful thoughts, but the continued presence and increasing awareness of these thoughts, often leads to a secondary spiral of inner criticism. As we enter into the season of love and are ensuring others are feeling adored by us, how about we also shift the focus and practice showing love and compassion to ourselves as well! A relatively simple shift such as the way we speak to ourselves has a shockingly powerful positive effect on our well being and our resilience to challenges. Follow along with this guided meditation to get a taste of what self-compassion can feel like.

Please note it is perfectly normal for this practice to be challenging, especially at first. This is a prime area where we can practice being kind. Instead of berating ourself, perhaps we try something like this instead: “I know this is difficult and you are trying your best. You are free to feel this frustration. Just remember that progress and changes takes time. You can do this.”

Put it to Practice:

1) Follow along with this guided practice

2) Write down 3 kind things to say to yourself. Review these everyday this week and see what you notice.
